Taylor R. Tomanka was raised in Mansfield, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. After graduating from Mansfield High School, she earned a B.S. in Public Relations and a Business Foundations Certificate at The University of Texas at Austin. While in college, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta as well as Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors Fraternity. She graduated with honors in both her major and minor, University-wide as well as within the School of Communication. From there, she enrolled at Texas Tech University School of Law and Texas Tech University Rawls Graduate School of Business to pursue her passion for the law and business. Mrs. Tomanka received a "Distinction" award for earning the second highest grade in International Business Transactions and was named as a Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Honoree prior to graduating. She also made top grades in other law classes as well as her MBA business classes.

During law and graduate business school, Mrs. Tomanka also excelled in extracurricular activities outside the classroom. Embracing Texas Tech School of Law's nationally recognized advocacy program, she honed her negotiation skills by competing in intra-school negotiation competitions. Recognizing that she enjoyed pre-trial work and working closely with clients, Mrs. Tomanka proudly accepted a position on the Administrative Law Journal as Staff Editor and later Articles Editor. She earned a Certificate of Excellence in Legal Research and was later named the Most Outstanding Articles Editor by the younger journal staff.

During law school, Taylor interned at a prominent Dallas family law firm, which led her to branch into family law. There she learned that she thoroughly enjoys working closely with clients by addressing each client's individual emotional needs in order to prepare them for their new life ahead of them. She additionally worked remotely for the Allen Firm in Stephenville, Texas, writing legal articles for its website geared towards helping the public with basic needs they could handle on their own. This knowledge gives her a definitive edge in business law cases and on the transactional side of family law.

Mrs. Tomanka believes it is important to help those in need and especially to mentor the younger generation. While at Texas Tech, she was a mentor both through the law school's mentor program as well as through the business school's Lauro Cavazos & Ophelia Powell-Malone Mentoring Program, which focused on helping first-generation college undergraduate students get through their first year of college. She currently is gearing up to mentor Texas Tech Law graduates who are about to sit for the July 2016 Bar Exam and just accepted a position on the Board of Directors of Junior League of Abilene as the Communications Director.
